BSL Level 1 Overview:

Signature Level 1 Award in British Sign Language (QCF) is designed to enable learners to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL). A range of topics are studied that involve simple, everyday language use. It provides an introduction to BSL and is suitable for all learners.

Candidates are assessed by practical exercises if they wish to gain certification. Successful candidates can progress to Signature Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language.

BSL Level 2 Overview:

This qualification is designed to enable learners to develop their skills to communicate with Deaf people using British Sign Language (BSL) in a range of everyday situations. The qualification will allow learners to participate in longer and more varied conversations than at Level 1. The course will develop communication in BSL about real life, routine, and daily experiences. The learner will be able to deal with most routine communication and have enough understanding of grammar to cope with some non-routine communication. Learners should be taught a number of regional variations in sign language.

It is suitable for anyone who has a basic level of skills and knowledge in BSL. Candidates are assessed by a combination of a multiple choice exam paper, a presentation, and a conversation in BSL. Successful candidates can progress to Signature Level 3 NVQ Certificate in British Sign Language.

Please note – by attending this course you are agreeing to pay the full course costs, if you are paying in installments and decide to stop attending the course you will still be liable and invoiced for any amount outstanding.
